Green Group 2009

I hope everyone had a fantastic summer holiday and that you are feeling refreshed and enthusiastic for 2009……

We have some new and exciting ideas and changes planned for the Green Group this year, which will involve more of the ‘whole’ school and community.

Our first exciting idea is a “Gardening Club”, run by gardening wiz Angela McEntee, with help from several talented gardening parents.

The Gardening Club will still be part of the Green Group, but allows those children who are really interested in gardening the opportunity to have hands on learning (with the idea of teaching other children later on)

This also means that the Green Group can concentrate more on environmental projects/issues. (Note/ We will still help out with weeding, maintenance and gardening projects!)

2009 General ideas….

“Gardening Club” planting, maintenance of vegetable garden; organic growing; composting; cultivating seeds; seedling house; propagating plants; hydroponics; soil types; reporting to classes, assembly; helping with school projects; helping with newsletters

“Green Group” environmental issues/projects; school projects; community projects; helping out with gardening maintenance/projects; reporting to classes, assembly; updated scrapbook; school, community newsletters; Enviroschools; planning for Gold

Times and days of the Gardening Club and Green Group have yet to be decided, it may be lunchtimes…..so we need keen, interested and dedicated children please.

If you are interested in joining the Gardening Club or Green Group, please fill in form and return by THIS WEDNESDAY (4th Feb)- box in office……thanks Louise
